Our dedicated band of volunteers have wasted no time in getting 56301 and 56302 back into the land of the living this weekend! Work started on Friday afternoon with Gareth, Mick and Alan swapping out dodgy battery cells on 56301 – a job that is not to be underestimated in the heat we’ve been experiencing this past few days. After a good charge on Saturday morning, 56301 started first time after almost two years dormant since being withdrawn by Fastline. 56302 followed suit on Sunday although the batteries on this engine still require a bit of attention before they are up to scratch. 56301 successfully completed a test run up the Springwell branch. As it stands things are looking good for 56301’s debut at Swanage in a few weeks time.
Thanks to everyone who helped out this weekend especially our friends at the Class 58 Loco Group. Here’s a short video by Matt Moore, and a photo taken by Danny Sladdin. Cheers chaps!
