A quick snapshot of TOPS from this evening shows that Colas Rail’s 56090, which hasn’t worked on the UK mainline since 2003, has been reinstated to the active COFS pool. The loco is currently situated at Nottingham Eastcroft and has been subject to a heavy overhaul along with 56049 & 56051. All three are expected to re-enter front line service this year.

56096 made a welcome return for the class to Worksop on Sunday night, when it hauled Mobile Maintenance Train 5 from Worksop Reception Sidings to Rugby District Electric Depot as 6U81. The loco then returned to Doncaster Carriage Holding Sidings this morning as 0Z56.
