Joint announcement from Progress Rail Locomotive Europe Ltd and Class 56 Group.

After the successful delivery of 16 x class 69 repower, locomotives rebuilt with EMD equipment, Progress Rail Locomotive Europe Ltd are delighted to support the Class 56 Group by donating surplus spares in the form of 56303 to the group to assist in the long-term preservation of 56006 the only preserved class 56 locomotive which is based at the East Lancashire Railway. It is hoped this will help ensure the presence of an operational class 56 for years to come. The C56G will be able to remove parts, build a pool of spares, and replace worn components keeping 56006 in operational condition with contingency which is paramount in maintain a locomotive especially now, so few class 56s survive.
